Elliott BROOD 03/23/2010
![]() Toronto three piece Elliott BROOD is playing Guelph's Vinyl on Thursday March 25. For the uninitiated, firstly they're a three piece. It's not a guys name. Secondly they're the best live band you will see in 2010*. These guys were shortlisted for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize for the best Canadian recording for their album Mountain Meadows. I've seen Elliott BROOD twice now and both times were amazing. Don't take my word for it. Go see them yourself. Go! Run! Spread the word! And while you're there, buy their CD Mountain Meadows. I'm confident you'll play it so much you'll wear the 1's and 0's right off the disk. Thursday's show is an EARLY SHOW. Doors at 7:30, all done by 10. All Ages, $15 available at Ground Floor Music. *Seriously 1 Comment The Bonfire Ball 03/11/2010

If you're looking to catch three Canadian acts on the verge of widespread success, look no further than the Bonfire Ball. ![]() I did myself a favour last night and went and checked out Toronto's Run With The Kittens at the Jimmy Jazz for the first time! They play the Jazz the first Friday of every month. Part Ween, Beck & Tenacious D (the singer looks and acts a lot like Jack Black) these guys can & do rock. It's a mix of comedy act and rock show. I have a feeling singer Nate Mils would tear you apart if you dared heckle them. He uses his wit and humour to keep the crowd in it between songs. Oh, and they can play too. Guitarist Champagne James Robertson routinely lights it up. They'll be back in Guelph Friday April 2. Go see them. | RoyalCityScene
