Jay Malinowski, lead singer of Juno Award winning group, Bedouin Soundclash, has just released his debut album, Bright Lights & Bruises last week (Feb 16, 2010).  In support of his new album, he is going on a cross country tour starting next week.
Although not making a stop in the Royal City, Malinowski (with Kinnie Starr & Michael Rault) will only be a hop, skip and a jump away in Waterloo at the Starlight.  I hope to be there.  You should too.

$15 advance, doors 8 PM, 19+!

Ian Blurton + Huron = Happy Endings 02/17/2010

Huron, Ian Blurton, Guelph, ebar, live music
This Thursday KYEO & The CSA present Evan Gordon & The Sad Clowns with Ian Blurton+Huron=Happy Endings.
Evan is a Guelph music scene staple.  From early stints with Royal City & Constantines to more recent posts with The Magic, Islands, the Skeletones Four & his own band The Sad Clowns.  I'll save you the links to all those bands, but if you have time you should check them out.
The last time I saw Blurton was a couple of years back with his band C'mon.  That show was probably the best show I saw in 2008.  It was what a rock show should be.  Mid show shooters, smashing glasses, crawling on tables, playing the guitar in the middle of the crowd, and rawkin out with your lady the bass player.
Well Ian is back, this time with Hamilton's Huron as a project they're calling Ian Blurton+Huron=Happy Endings.
These two acts should almost positively guarantee a loud, drunken rawk fest.  Word.  Be there.  It could be the best show of 2010.

Attack In Black 02/11/2010

I really enjoyed seeing $100 and Attack In Black last night.  AIB sound a bit like Shotgun Jimmie and the Cons.
This song definitely echoes AIB's folk influences - but it still retains a hint of powerpop punk.
